France's Virginie Razzano is through to the fourth round of Wimbledon as seventh seed Vera Zvonareva pulls out with an ankle injury.
The Russian missed two months of the season after damaging ankle ligaments in a match, ironically against Razzano, in Charleston.
The injury forced her to miss the French Open and she appeared to be struggling during her first-round match at the All England Club against Britain's Georgie Stoop, finally winning 6-4 in the deciding set.
Zvonareva then beat Mathilde Johansson easily in round two, but she retired during her first-round women's doubles match yesterday and this morning decided against facing Razzano on Court Two.
Razzano, seeded 26th, will face either former Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli or Francesca Schiavone in the fourth round.
