The British star would have expected to play his first-round match against Robert Kendrick on Monday, as he had been drawn in the same half as last year's winner Rafael Nadal.
The defending champion traditionally opens play on Centre Court on the opening day of the tournament which means the other players in his half also play on the same day.
However, officials have decided to shuffle things around following Nadal's withdrawal on Friday night due to ongoing knee problems.
The All England Club has announced that second seed and five-time winner Roger Federer will now be first up on Centre on Monday. He will face Yen-Hsun Lu at 1300 BST.
The entire bottom half of the draw will be scheduled for Monday, which means Murray will open his campaign on Tuesday.
In keeping with tradition, ladies' champion Venus Williams will open proceedings on Centre Court on Tuesday. She faces fellow American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
